Applied Music
Applied Music is a study on conceptualizing and approximating performable music in the context of a digital workstation compositional environment. Using modular synthesis, digital synthesis, and sampled work from archival sources, the work applies various instruments to construct replica works considered as applied versions of a compositional agenda. Three pieces were written for voice and amplified strings, three tones, and drum and electronics, respectively. An overlapping 1-to-1 relationship between design and performance emphasizes an applied conservatory for the preparation and performance of music.
